Perdomo Cigars has announced the passing of Sarah Gonzalez, who served as factory manager for more than three decades and played a pivotal role in shaping the companyโs culture and operations. Gonzalez passed away on September 29, 2025, after dedicating over 32 years to the Perdomo family.
Before joining Perdomo, Gonzalez was a master roller at the H. Upmann factory in Havana, Cuba, where she earned recognition for her craftsmanship. In Nicaragua, she became a central figure at the Perdomo factory, both as a leader and as a mentor.
โSarah wasnโt just an essential part of the company; she was family,โ said Nick Perdomo Jr., President and CEO. โI loved her like a second mother. Whether it was making sure I had a hot meal after a long day or showing genuine concern for me and my family, she was always there.โ
Operations Manager Nelson Cuba remembered Gonzalezโs passion for Nicaraguan tobacco: โShe loved Nicaragua, its people, and especially the rich tobaccos grown here. Under her leadership, our factory culture becameโand remainsโthe very best. I will miss her dearly.โ
Other members of the Perdomo family and company leadership echoed similar sentiments, describing Gonzalez as a second mother, grandmother, and the heart of the organization. Her guidance spanned decades of growth and she left a lasting imprint on Perdomo Cigars.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Perdomo Cigar Factory in Nicaragua to honor her life and legacy.
