J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has begun shipping its new Angel Cuesta Shade to retailers across the United States. The release marks the first time the Shade version of the historic Angel Cuesta brand will be sold in cabinets of 20 cigars.
The Angel Cuesta brand dates back more than a century and was named for Angel LaMadrid Cuesta, one of the founders of Cuesta-Rey and the official cigar supplier to King Alfonso XIII of Spain. The new Shade joins the Angel Cuesta Rosado line, which debuted two years ago.
Each Angel Cuesta Shade is rolled by hand in โThe American Roomโ at J.C. Newmanโs El Reloj factory in Tampa, Florida. The cigars feature a Nicaraguan Shade wrapper, with aged tobaccos from three continents inside, and are finished with a pigtail cap. According to the company, a pair of veteran rollers make about 150 cigars per day.
The line is offered in three sizes:
- Doble Robusto (5.5โ x 56) โ MSRP $20
- Toro (6.25โ x 52) โ MSRP $21
- Salamones (7.25โ x 57) โ MSRP $23
Initially, Angel Cuesta cigars were available only in the El Reloj Collection box set for Tobacconist Association of America retailers last fall. With this release, they are shipping to 112 shops in 46 states.
