United Cigars is adding Gold Star as a new line to its portfolio, produced at the Tabacalera William Ventura Cigar Factory in the Dominican Republic. Initially launched in 1995, Gold Star returned in 2024 with a limited-edition release that raised over $30,000 for the Navy Seal Gold Star Program. It will now become a regular offering, retaining its gold star symbol with updated styling and blending.
The cigar comes in three sizes: Robusto (5 x 52) at $12.00, Toro (6 x 54) at $13.00, and Gordo (6ยฝ x 60) at $14.00. The blend includes Dominican Ligeros, Criollo ’98, Corojo ’98, and Connecticut Broadleaf fillers, a Sumatra binder, and an Ecuador Habano 2000 Intermedio wrapper from the Quevedo region. It is aged for 365 days and features flavors like cocoa, almond, honey, and cinnamon.
Packaged in black matte boxes of 20, Gold Star will launch in March 2025 at select retailers, followed by a wider release at the PCA event in New Orleans. Oliver Nivaud of United Cigars noted that the blend reflects a collaboration with the Ventura family factory, rooted in Dominican cigar-making traditions.
