CLE Cigar Company and its Asylum subsidiary have announced the Serenity Now / Insanity Later line, debuting later this week at the 2024 PCA trade show in Las Vegas.

Similar to the Medulla Oblongata line of 2017, the cigars feature a split concept within each box. But while the former offered the same blend in round or box-press, the Serenity Now / Insanity Later includes two entirely different recipes, with Serenity Now being mellow and Insanity Later cranking up the intensity.

Aside from the idea of smoking a milder cigar earlier in the day and increasing the intensity afterwards, the concept also plays on the yin/yang partnership between co-founders Christian Eiroa and Tom Lazuka, with the blends being made by Christian as a surprise for Tom.

Tom Lazuka stated: “Originally, I wasn’t happy that Christian created this brand without consulting me, but I quickly came to understand the symbolism behind [the] brand and the blends are fantastic!”

The Asylum Serenity Now cigar features a Connecticut Shade wrapper and binder/fillers from Honduras and South America. Meanwhile, the Asylum Insanity Later uses a proprietary recipe throughout the interior, being finished with a Habano wrapper leaf. Each version is offered in three sizes (50×5, 54×6, and 60×6), with prices ranging from $8 to $11 MSRP.

Additionally, the cigars come in a unique presentation, vacillating between light and dark wrapper within a custom acrylic crate display. The company states, “Heavy investment went into bringing in new machinery to create these new display cases in-house at the C.L.E. Cigar Company in Danli, Honduras.” The 100-count boxes are primarily intended for retail display, having a transparent acrylic lid that slides out to reveal the cigars.
