Foundation Cigar Company has revealed a new line—Primer Fábrica 1810—a limited cigar created to commemorate the first known cigar factory in the United States, established in Suffield, Connecticut, in 1810. The company, based in the Connecticut River Valley, aims to honor the region’s longstanding role in American tobacco and cigar production with this release.
Primer Fábrica 1810 is a 5¾” x 60 soft box-pressed figurado featuring a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, a Brazilian Mata Fina binder, and an undisclosed filler blend. The cigar will not be available for retail purchase and is instead offered exclusively at Foundation Cigar Co. events nationwide. Attendees can obtain a three-count box of Primer Fábrica 1810 at no additional cost with the purchase of select Foundation cigar boxes, including The Wise Man, Highclere Castle, Aksum, Charter Oak (two boxes), or The Upsetters.
Nicholas Melillo, Founder and Master Blender of Foundation Cigar Company, stated that the cigar reflects the historical significance of Connecticut’s tobacco industry:
“This cigar is a tribute to the deep-rooted history of Connecticut tobacco and the origins of cigar-making in America,” said Nicholas Melillo, Founder & Master Blender of Foundation Cigar Company. “As a company based in the Connecticut River Valley, we are proud to continue this legacy while offering a unique and exclusive experience for cigar enthusiasts.”
The Primer Fábrica 1810 will be featured at select Foundation events across the country, providing cigar enthusiasts with an opportunity to try this exclusive offering. The cigar will debut at next month’s PCA trade show in New Orleans, going on to appear at Foundation events this summer. Further details about event locations and dates are expected to be announced by the company.
