TPE is the Tobacco Plus Expo International, billed as “the largest premium cigar, tobacco, vapor, and alternative trade show,” marking the cigar industry’s first B2B buying exhibition of the year. The event is run by Kretek International, Inc., the largest importer, marketer and distributor of specialty tobacco products in the U.S., being the parent company of wholesale distributor Phillips & King, as well as premium cigar manufacturer Ventura Cigar Co.
The trade show has seen tremendous growth in recent years, capitalizing on recent turmoil within the PCA Annual Convention & Trade Show to become a competing alternative to the largest event dedicated to premium cigars. TPE has not historically been viewed as an event of interest to consumers, but with more manufacturers attending than ever before, coupled with a growing number of TPE-geared cigar launches, the 2020 event has cigar enthusiasts taking notice.
