Liga Privada No. 9

Let me start by saying, This Cigar is AMAZING! No beating around the bush here you don’t even need to read the rest of this cigar review if you don’t want to. Just know that the Liga Privada No. 9 is one of the best cigars in the world so go buy some.

On to the review. With its dark oily oscuro wrapper and sharp looking label my expectations for the Liga Privada No. 9 were already pretty high, and these cigars can at times be hard to find so having a few in my possession has been building the excitement.

Typically I like to snip just a bit off the end of a cigar do a pre-draw, toast and then I cut a little more to open er’ up (I don’t know why its just how I do it). But with the Liga Privada the second snip wasn’t needed! With just the pre-snip, snip it opened up beautifully and had no draw issues whatsoever.

Liga Privada No. 9 review

I Love the elegant yet understated label on the Liga Privada.

Smoke billowed from this cigar and the flavors were amazing I got rich nut and spicy flavors with a creamy oily, white pepper background. These cigars create more smoke than any cigar I have ever smoked. Heck these babies are smoking like a chimney even when you are not taking a draw. It’s as if the smoke themselves!

I managed to pick up a five pack and smoked a couple with some buddies. This was interesting because the burn on each cigar was a bit different. Unfortunately for both my friends they had kind of a wonky burn and had to make several re-lights. Whereas mine burned perfectly with only one re-light right at the end.

The flip side

Full bodied and full flavored I would have to say this is the closest I’ve been to the Padron 1926 series in terms of shear enjoyment and smoking pleasure. If your looking for something to drink with your Liga Privada No.9 I would strongly recommend some Knob Creek Single Barrel, the pairing was out of this world. The sweet butterscotch flavor of the bourbon cut through the warm deep rich spices of the Liga each one complimenting the other.

Would I smoke this cigar again? Does a bear poop in the woods? The Liga Privada No. 9 is one of the best cigars in the entire world in my opinion. I can’t fully explain how amazing this cigar is, it’s one of those things you just have to try for yourself. When and if  you see them at your local brick and mortar (or online), make sure to pick some up, because this cigar belongs in every humidor – on the top shelf!

Picked up my first two today. Great smoke, flavor & construction. Had one after dinner this evening with a Woodford Reserve bourbon. The smoke just POURS off the foot on this thing. Fantastic!

Liga Privada No.9 – fantastic smoke. Bought one and saved it for the BD special smoke last Saturday. Never disappointing.

Oh most definitely! In fact I’ll always recommend a Padron 1926 haha! Any size is good, but it just so happens that the 1926 no.9 is the highest rated non Cuban cigar with a Cigar Aficionado rating of 97!

  • So if someone was looking for a No. 9 and couldnt track one down, you’d recommend a 1926? Which one in particular?
